School Officials Application of the French Navy and visited Trujillo Otuzco
On 16 February 2010, arrived in the city of Trujillo 10 officers of the School of Application of French Navy. They landed at the Port of Callao in the helicopter carrier "Jeanne D'Arc." This Porta Helicopter is an emblem of the French Navy. Was commissioned on 16 July 1964. The main mission of the Jeanne d'Arc is the training of officers and helicopter carrier. This year after a trip around the world (Peru travel between countries), the "Jeanne d'Arc" will be put into retirement. Students of officers who arrived to make the Mission Trujillo 2009 -2010, which is the mission number 45 for implementation and training of officers.
When Olivier Guiral, Director of Alliance Francaise de Trujillo, called me to see my availability to lead the officers, had in mind - at first - the importance of these youngsters represent for France. I agreed to take care of positively guided PH Marine Officers' Jeanne d'Arc. " They arrived overland from Lima Trujillo, enabling them to get a better view North Coast. It was of interest to visit the historical center of Trujillo, but obviously what most interested them was the visit to the archaeological monuments and also know a little more than contemporary trujillano resident. So that the next day, after visiting the Archaeological Project Huaca de la Luna, we lunch at Huanchaco. In this resort enjoy a good buffet ocean, where the house specialty: Ceviche with cream, was acclaimed. Huanchaco makes the difference with other resorts for one primary reason: The fishermen with their boats in reed (reed horses). This aspect of cultural continuity was one of the aspects they found interesting Officers. During the visit to Chan Chan, one of the officers told me that Olivier had talked about a village located less than two hours of Trujillo, an Andean village with tiled houses ... What I did was confirm the comment made by Olivier, adding the Andean landscape contrasts with the aridity of the coast. Moreover you could eat good ham and sausages. Parallel to the explanations of the architecture of the Chimu civilization, tinged comments about the verdant Andean landscape Otuzco . Returning
Chan Chan, talked aspects of the transition from Trujillo to "modernity" So we get to the issue of Marinera, the national dance. And in order to want to see this dance for the evening was organized an exhibition of Sailor and Tondero, in the Hotel Libertador - establishment where they were staying. Tondero Marinera and dances were presented, there was a relationship going, say, indirectly, with respect to the association of the name of our national dance and profession of them. The story of the origins of the Sailor and Tondero, found it interesting and once again an indirect relationship with respect to the African slave trade back in the sixteenth century.
For that night, the board of the Alliance Française de Trujillo had prepared an evening at the Central Club, and as the captain in charge of Officers I would confirm: whether they would go to visit museums to Lambayeque or otherwise change by visiting Otuzco. Aware of Lambayeque has one of the most important museums worldwide and spectacular archaeological monuments, I thought that the answer would eventually continue their planned itinerary. Great was my surprise to receive a call confirming his interest in visiting Otuzco .
on Wednesday 17 was a day dedicated to discover the Andes mountain Libertad. Passing through the area of \u200b\u200bShiran was the first discovery to them: see how pineapples grow ... in fact, most European people think that pineapples trees grow bigger surprise when they see them live. As we advanced the fog was covering the huge hills, the river downhill and the green hills, spectacular scenery painted a distinctly Andean. The sharp edges, covered by fog and occasionally the wind that unveiled, made the route a magical and mysterious journey. Once at
Otuzco , cobbled streets with stone houses with red tiles and quaint balconies filled the eyes of the hungry lions. Following the tradition of pilgrims who will Otuzco, we entered the sanctuary where is the image of the Virgen de La Puerta and the officers lit a candle in honor the IVP. Then we visited the food market of Otuzco. The French have a particular taste for visiting the markets, and as the market contributes Otuzco was certainly a travel experience. We also visited the Santa Rita Chapel, where the owner of the House gift them tuna to taste. Lunch time would come, prosciutto and chicken soup would be lunch. During lunch I would talk from my childhood in Otuzco and applications, ways and customs of that time, in some cases, continue to nowadays.
The time would come back without delay. The return would pass by Beans and also the sand area of San Juan. The contrast of monoculture asparagus with the ancient dune landscape was another idea that may not have existed in Trujillo. We arrived at the agreed time, had to rest because the next day once again be taking the American to return to Lima, other protocol activities with the French Embassy are expected.
The Marines who were visiting the city of Trujillo undoubtedly able to visit a lot of people who may not have the fortune to know. It was a quiet visit, simple, where there is no archaeological monuments of the likes of Chan Chan, but has an intrinsic charm, their customs, folklore ... Otuzco is a village lives.
From this rostrum, my sincere thanks to Olivier Guiral for allowing me to join the Mission 2009 -20 010 of the Groupe d'École d'Application des Officiers Marine "last mission" Jeanne d'Arc. " Trujillo and Otuzco will be recorded in the minds of those Marines.
